Rich King, PE – Principal

Rich King is a Mechanical Professional Engineer and a Principal at Peninsula Engineering. He holds a BS degree in Mechanical Engineering from Auburn University and has ten years of work experience designing a wide variety of projects from theme parks and education facilities to commercial buildings and healthcare facilities. Mr. King represents the future leadership at Peninsula and is engaged in management decisions within the organization. He is a member of The Executive Committee (TEC) and the University Club of Orlando and has also taken a leadership role within the American Society of Heating and Air Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE). He currently serves as a Central Florida Chapter Treasurer and is in line for succession to the chapter presidency. He recently served as a Technical Committee volunteer at the 2008 AHSRAE International Convention held in New York City, where he played the lead role in a mock trial which explored the consequences of owner/engineer/contractor disputes regarding LEED certification on building design. The video tape of this trial is distributed worldwide as an educational tool for all AHSRAE members.

Mr. King serves as the lead liaison between our firm and the Walt Disney World company and oversees our relationships within their organization including Facilities Asset Management (FAM) and Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI). He is responsible for responding to Requests for Proposal, establishing scope narratives and pricing and serving as the principal and project manager through the completion of the design process and construction. Peninsula Engineering in many instances will serve as the prime professional for this client and as a result, Mr. King directs various consultants to serve the clients needs. Given the nature of the client, his work entails a wide variety of projects ranging from food service and retail outlet to their back-of-house, offices and guest service areas.
