Florida Hospital Campus Chiller Plant
Peninsula Engineering designed a 5,000 ton chiller plant for this 1,000,000+ square foot hospital facility. The system was specifically designed for a seamless transition from the existing plant to the new plant. This allowed for minimum downtime of the chilled water system and required no shut down of any hospital services.
The chiller system is a primary/secondary distribution system manifold in the plant so that any pump can support any chiller.
The three (3) chillers are protected by state-of-the-art refrigerant sensors and ventilation system and controlled by direct digital controls. The three chillers are supported by a four (4) cell cooling towers on low speed to reduce the noise level on nearby residential neighbors. The piping, valves, and supports have been designed for a thirty year life. The electrical utility service main switchgear and transformers are split so the plant can function at 50% capacity if there is an electrical service interruption.
